Panic buy toilet paper!
Panic buying of dunny paper by idiots has left supermarket shelves empty of bog roll, and even caused fighting between people trying to snare that last pack on the shelf.
The sad part about all of this is that all the toilet paper is made here, in Australia, there is no supply shortage. People are apparently buying it in the case that they need at least two weeks worth in case they are forced to "self-quarantine", and then going a bit overboard on the assessment of how much they might need.

"This isn't just a problem in AU, here in the US some people are "armageddon shopping" also. That means shelves that contained toilet paper, bottled water, hand sanitizer, etc. are bare daily at stores.
Last week, when people started dying here from covid-19, things went crazy. I drove past two Costco stores (huge warehouse stores) an hour or so before opening. Both stores had long lines, easily 100+ people, waiting an hour before opening. That isn't anywhere near normal, usually 5-10 people ~15 minutes before opening.
I made my monthly visit to Costco yesterday, the guy parked next to me had bought six cases of toilet paper (30 rolls per case). That wasn't all he bought, it took him ~15 minutes to fill his vehicle with his purchases after filling his trunk - filling every possible interior cabin spot to the ceiling, just leaving the driver seat open.

"I went to Woolies to get milk, and there were fights at the registers as staff were limiting the purchases of toilet paper, and customers weren't having it.
What kind of a society have we become where toiletries have become a bigger necessity than food?

Customers were leaving the woolies store with the limited purchase of toilet paper, and then queing around the corner at the Aldi to purchase more.
Not a single food item in the trolley.
